Yomi Fabiyi, a renowned actor and advocate for human rights, recently shared an important message on his official social media account, urging people to refrain from employing children or underage individuals as household help or domestic servants.
According to Yomi, utilizing a child or underage person as a househelp or domestic servant represents the epitome of criminality and evil towards that child. He goes as far as comparing it to a war crime, emphasizing the severity of the issue.
Yomi firmly believes that no child should ever be coerced into labor, regardless of the circumstances of poverty, war, or ignorance. He stresses that such actions are punishable under the law and can result in significant jail time.
The actor expresses his deep concern and disappointment upon witnessing individuals who claim to care for children online, yet simultaneously employ children as domestic help within their own homes. He questions how these individuals can sleep at night while instructing a child to babysit their own children. Yomi points out that subjecting a child to work as a maid exposes them to various forms of abuse, including sexual abuse. Furthermore, he asserts that those who engage in such practices have forfeited their moral authority to advocate for or work with children in any capacity.
